Presidential candidate and Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) said on Tuesday that the media needs to leave decades old sexual assault allegations against his rival, real estate mogul Donald Trump, alone.
CNN host Wolf Blitzer asked Kasich during “The Situation Room” for his reaction to reports that Trump’s ex-wife had accused him of an assault decades ago.
“Just leave him alone. I mean obviously it’s a painful story for him, for his family, for his former wife. Leave him alone,” Kasich told Blitzer.
The Daily Beast resurfaced comments Monday that Trump’s ex-wife made in a a deposition decades ago in which she accused Trump of sexually assaulting her. The comments were published in a book about Trump’s life.
Trump’s lawyer responded and said that it is illegal to rape your spouse, which was criticized for being false. The lawyer has since apologized and Trump’s ex-wife dismissed the claims.
“Just let it go. Move on. Go to something else. Talk about his policies on something else,” Kasich said to Blitzer. “Everything that he’s said, he’s said. Leave him alone. That’s what I think.”
Watch Blitzer’s exchange with Kasich from CNN:
This is the least-clownish GOP candidate. He’s the one I fear. So I am glad to see him dragged into the Trump-mud-wrestling-pit.
John who?
But seriously, he’s defending (albeit lukewarm) the Donald?
I’m shocked to see Kasich in Ohio and not NH…or is that just a Columbus OH background
Oh, come on Kasich…this is no time to start singing songs from Disney movies…
Dear Author,
¨Trump’s lawyer responded and said that it is illegal to rape your spouse, which was criticized for being false. The lawyer has since apologized and Trump’s ex-wife dismissed the claims.¨
No, he said that it wasn’t illegal to rape your wife, and Ivana didn’t ¨dismiss¨ the claim, she merely said it wasn’t really a rape.
