Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal (R) ordered Monday that all flags at the state’s buildings to fly at half staff until Friday following the death of Louisiana State Trooper Steven Vincent, according to press release.

Vincent died Monday after he was shot in the head by a stranded motorist over the weekend. Reports said the motorist, Kevin Daigle, will be charged with first-degree murder.

“Supriya and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Trooper Steven Vincent. Steven was an honorable husband, father and State Trooper who ocurageously served our state for over a decade,” Jindal said in a press release.

Jindal also tweeted his condolences.
