Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-OK) interrupted a heated Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on the nomination of Chuck Hagel as secretary of defense on Tuesday to defend his fellow colleague Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX).

Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) called out Cruz for insinuating that Hagel may have given speeches to or received money from “radical or extreme groups.”

“I want to make one observation,” Inhofe interjected. “I think I wrote down the words Senator [Bill] Nelson was criticizing our senator there for implying that Chuck Hagel was cozy with terrorist type countries referring to Iran. I’d say he’s endorsed by them. You can’t get any cozier than that.”
