The House of Representatives on Friday is expected to vote on the first round of Hurricane Sandy relief, a $9.7 billion flood insurance bill, according to the AP.
The House is expected to vote on another aid package — worth $51 billion — on Jan. 15. House Speaker John Boehner came under fire from Northeastern Republicans earlier this week for canceling an expected vote on the relief package.
Urging “timely congressional action,” FEMA on Wedensday told Congress it needs additional money to fund the National Flood Insurance Program in order to meet storm victims’ needs, CNN reported Friday.
