Google already provides updated travel directions in Google Maps based on New York City’s public transit options, but now the company is taking those a step further. On Tuesday, Google announced that it will incorporate into Google Maps planned transit service changes (read: construction delays and service disruptions) and even more granular, step-by-step directions in the New York metropolitan area. The changes are small but welcome for New Yorkers. Google said that it was working on bringing similar updates to public transit directions in some 400 regions around the world, but gave no timetable on when these would be implemented.
