Glenn Greenwald and Edward Snowden have been inextricably linked since last year’s extraordinary disclosures of the National Security Agency’s global surveillance programs. But until Thursday, the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and former security contractor had never been photographed together.

In a photo he shared on Twitter, Greenwald is seen posing with his partner, David Miranda, fellow journalist Laura Poitras and Snowden. Greenwald also shared a shot of Snowden posing next to Miranda, who originally posted the photos on his Facebook page.

“Snowden selfie! #selfie” Miranda captioned the photo of the foursome.

It was unclear where they were, but Snowden has been living in Russia since being granted asylum there.

Poitras shared this year’s Pulitzer Prize for Public Service with Greenwald, along with other journalists at The Guardian and the Washington Post, for the NSA disclosures. Miranda was detained at London’s Heathrow airport for nine hours last summer, with officials confiscating his cell phone, laptop, camera, memory sticks, DVDs and games consoles.
