The New Hampshire “Lincoln/ Douglas” debate between Newt Gingrich and Jon Huntsman turned out to be a rather sedate affair, with the candidate agreeing on many points, and disagreeing only politely when they ran into areas of contention, such as when to withdraw troops from Afghanistan.

Journalists noted that the somnolent affair had actually put some members of the audience to sleep, including Huntsman’s 12-year-old adopted daughter, Gracie Mei.

Gingrich praised the debate’s format, saying, “This is what we should have a lot more of because this is substantive. This is not a Hollywood game. This is not a reality show. This is reality.”

Huntsman, who unlike Gingrich has turned down the chance to participate in a debate moderated by TV star Donald Trump, apparently couldn’t resist getting in a slight dig, saying, “I can’t wait to compare and contrast this format with the Donald Trump debate.”
