Former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-AZ) threw out the first pitch Wednesday at the Congressional Women’s Softball Game in Washington and took a good-natured shot at rapper 50 Cent for his own famously bad pitch.
Giffords was a member of the lawmakers’ team before she resigned from Congress to focus on recovering from serious injuries she sustained in a horrific 2011 Tucson mass shooting. She told MSNBC she was “honored to have the privilege of throwing out the first pitch” as an alum.
Ever the good sport, she posted a photo on Twitter to taunt 50 Cent, whose wild first pitch at a New York Mets-Pittsburgh Pirates game last month was widely mocked as the worst ever in baseball.
.@50cent, bet you my first pitch will be better than yours was! http://t.co/xDD67bdBNh
