House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) said House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) would be a great majority leader and that McCarthy has his “full support” for the position.
“I don’t know who it is that will actually be running,” Cantor said at a press conference Wednesday afternoon. “I can tell you that if my dear friend Kevin McCarthy does decide to run I think he’d make an outstanding majority leader and I will be backing him with my full support.”
Cantor’s comments came a day after he lost in the Republican primary for his home Congressional district. Cantor announced at the press conference on Wednesday that effective July 31 he would step down as majority leader. The election for his replacement were set for June 19.
Well, isn’t that the kiss of death.
The last of the three Young Guns standing should have his chance at rejection. Cantor, Ryan and McCarthy led the ship astray following the Tea Party.
Cantor’s parting gift, a stab in the back and a twist of the knife into McCarthy. Cantor knows good and well that his enthusiastic support of McCarthy means that McCarthy will not win. It’s going to be someone from a red state.
Zzzzzzzz…Who cares? Anyone could do Cantor’s job. Obstruct everything.
Dear Ivan, thanks for the kiss of death.
Sincerely yours, Kev.
