After his Cinco de Mayo tweet declaring “I love Hispanics!” while eating a Tex-Mex taco bowl, Republican Donald Trump said Friday morning his supporters loved the message.
“As of yesterday it had 59,000 retweets. 59,000 retweets! That’s almost got to be some kind of record. People loved it,” Trump said during a phone-in on “Fox and Friends.” “I’m going to do great with Hispanics. I’m going to do fantastically because I’m bringing jobs back to America.”
The Fox News hosts asked Trump about the tweet, which had more than 76,000 retweets as of Friday morning, after rolling tape of Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman saying last night, “It’s like the Iranian Ayatollah having matzo ball soup and claiming he loves Jews!”
