Dead Bombing Suspect Participated In 2009 National Boxing Tournament

Tamerlan Tsarnaev, the 26-year-old suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings who was killed in an early Friday morning firefight with police, participated in the 2009 National Golden Gloves boxing tournament in Salt Lake City, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Tsarnaev lost in the first round of the tournament to Lamar Fenner, the eventual runner-up. Organizers of the tournament told the Tribune that they have no recollection of Tsarnaev.

Photos of Tsarnaev at a boxing gym surfaced earlier Friday.
