“The Daily Show” correspondent Al Madrigal bitterly noted on Thursday that Republicans had stopped courting Latinos in favor of “fresh, piping hot gays.”
“Well, you know what?” Madrigal said. “The joke’s on them because Latinos are the original gays.”
“Yeah, that’s right,” he continued, addressing a shocked Jon Stewart. “We invented gay. Think about it. Those ruffled shirts. Tight bathing suits. Mojitos. It’s the gayest drink there is.”
Stewart noted there were “some superficial similarities” but was skeptical of Madrigal’s argument. Then he lost his train of thought as Madrigal began to slowly eat a churro.
“Perhaps I can convince you by enjoying this traditional Mexican snack of my forefathers,” Madrigal said.
Stewart pointed out that foods were neither gay nor straight.
“Really? Oh yeah?” Madrigal said. “Churro is from the Aztec word ‘Churrocaca,’ which everyone knows mean ‘Cinnamon Dick.’ So, yeah, learn how to speak Spanish.”
