Stephen Colbert defended a Republican consultant’s use of stock photos as part of a “Republicans Are People, Too” ad campaign Thursday on “The Colbert Report,” arguing that those images only added to the ad’s “message of inclusiveness.”
“Republicans can be people that they’re not,” Colbert said. “As long as we can find the right stock photo, I believe Republicans can be people who do yoga on produce, Republicans can be women who eat salad in the bathtub, Republicans can be astronauts who take their helmets off in space.”
Colbert also applauded the video’s creator for his “vast experience making Republicans seem human” because, as Colbert noted, he once worked for Mitt Romney.
After The Daily Banter discovered last month that one of the “Republicans” featured in the ad campaign was actually a stock photo, TPM’s reporting found that the others were, too.

God, he’s so clever—that ending was such an amazing twist on the whole theme, it was like he ran up the wall and started dancing on the ceiling.
Ugh. I keep getting a “Content in Unavailable” message.
I’ll do a search for this; sounds like it was really good.
If the GOP stopped using stock photos, the only photos they would have available would be of Old White Men, and brain dead zombie females that long ago accepted the reality that they are the property of those Old White Men.
They’d have the rednecks from down in the middle of Georgia. They’d have Ben Carson. They’d have the bimbo crew from FOX. But yea, they kind of have a problem finding real people to do the pictures.
Daily Kos carries Colbert and Stuart clips, and that web site doesn’t lock up my computer.
