A viral video of Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s (D-MA) recent appearance on CNBC was removed from her YouTube page, but the financial news network said Friday it was just a matter of copyright enforcement.
The Huffington Post and others flagged the video’s removal from Warren’s page on Thursday night, prompting some to speculate that CNBC took it down out of embarassment over the content. During her appearance on “Squawk Box” last week, Warren forcefully defended the Glass-Steagall Act against skeptical panelists, earning plaudits from many liberals. The video used by Warren’s office was replaced with a message indicating that NBC Universal requested its removal on copyright grounds.
A spokesperson for CNBC told TPM in an email that the video is still available on the network’s website:
We think that the clip featuring Senator Warren is well worth watching and, as you will see below, it has been available to view in multiple locations on CNBC.com since its original posting. The original, copyrighted video clip, like all others on CNBC.com, can be embedded on any third party site through our video player.
