A CNN anchor helped rescue a man from drowning Sunday at an exclusive New York vacation spot.

Page Six reported late Monday that “New Day” host Chris Cuomo was boating with his wife and children in Long Island when he jumped in after a swimmer struggling in the water near Shelter Island’s Sunset Beach.

Cuomo confirmed the story Tuesday morning on “New Day.”

“I didn’t think. I just went in and got him,” he said.

The swimmer was an unidentified man in his 60s, according to CNN. A witness told the news outlet that the man would have drowned if Cuomo hadn’t tried to rescue him.

“It was fast-moving water. A lot of boaters were anchored and he went for a swim,” Cuomo said. “He didn’t judge the current right.”

Cuomo said the man didn’t look right as he passed the family’s boat, so he threw out a life preserver. When that didn’t do the job, Cuomo jumped in and swam with the man until the police arrived.

“I hope that he’s well and I hope people don’t chase down his name,” Cuomo said. “I’m only talking about it because somebody called and put it in the paper. And it wasn’t me.”
