House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) admitted Thursday that he’s not entirely aware of the contents of the immigration reform bill that passed the Senate, citing the thousands of pages that comprise the legislaton.
“Well, I tell ya, I can’t tell you what’s in that big Senate bill, and the well over 1,000, 1,500 pages that it may be,” Cantor told Yahoo! News. “I don’t really know, you could ask a lot of the senators to tell you exactly what’s in that bill. And that’s my concern. Any time around here we’re passing really large bills, you know, we really ought to take time to understand what’s in them. And a lot of the times with large bills, what happens are the results of the law of unintended consequences.”
The Virginia Republican said that the House of Representatives will tackle the legislation methodically.
