Boehner Buys Time To Whip Votes For ‘Plan B’

The House of Representatives was supposed to debate Speaker John Boehner’s fiscal cliff “Plan B” — to lock in Bush-era tax rates for income up to $1 million — for one hour starting at about 7 p.m., leading to a vote on final passage by 8:30.

But Republicans unexpectedly recessed the House moments ago to buy leadership time to whip votes for that bill. That suggests they don’t have the votes yet, and may not be able to round them up.
