While addressing two separate shootings that left three police officers wounded on Thursday in New York City, Mayor Michael Bloomberg alluded to a gun policy argument made by the National Rifle Association in the wake of the Newtown, Conn. mass shooting.
“In recent weeks, we’ve heard some people say that the only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. But sometimes the good guys get shot — and sometimes, they are killed,” Bloomberg told reporters Thursday night, according to the Associated Press.
“Tonight, thank God, three good guys — three New York City police officers, who acted heroically — are going to make it,” Bloomberg said.
The separate incidents Thursday left one suspect dead and four under arrest.
