Sen. Barbara Mikulski (D-MD) announced on Wednesday that she will support the Iran nuclear deal, sealing a victory for President Obama.
She is the 34th senator to announce her support, giving Congress the ability to sustain a presidential veto of a resolution aimed at killing the deal.
“No deal is perfect, especially one negotiated with the Iranian regime,” Mikulski wrote in a statement, according to Roll Call. “I have concluded that this Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is the best option available to block Iran from having a nuclear bomb. For these reasons, I will vote in favor of this deal. However, Congress must also reaffirm our commitment to the safety and security of Israel.”
