The leader of a white supremacist skinhead group in Florida is scheduled to go to trial on Tuesday on charges of conducting paramilitary training and planning to shoot into a building, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
Marcus Faella, the head of the American Front skinhead organization, is the only member of the group still set to go to trial following the 2012 arrests of 14 people as part of an investigation by an FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force. Charges against 10 of the people were dismissed with little explanation while three were convicted.
Investigators at the time of the arrests said Faella and the American Front were preparing for a race war and plotting an attack in central Florida.
The Sentinel said much of the evidence for the arrests came from an informant who infiltrated the group. Lawyers for some of those arrested have said the evidence was flimsy and the cases against the group were “political,” according to the Sentinel.
