Amazon, the online marketplace that began as a humble bookseller, has become a liquor store now, too. As of Thursday, users can order wine fro the website and Amazon will ship it to them, but the market is restricted for now to the following 12 states: California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming — as well as the District of Columbia. For those oenophiles that live outside these areas, fear not: Amazon says that it “is committed to expanding Amazon Wine and making it available in as many states as possible. We hope to have more states available soon.” The Atlantic Wire speculates on which states will be next to receive Amazon’s wine shipment option.
