NBC News anchor Brian Williams’ daughter Allison, best known for her role on HBO’s “Girls,” made it clear Wednesday night that she was firmly in her father’s corner as he grapples with a six-month suspension from the network.

“I can’t wait until he’s back on TV,” Allison Williams told “Late Night” host Seth Myers during a Q&A at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

The longtime “Nightly News” anchor was suspended amid an internal investigation into stories about his reporting that he’s told publicly over the years. Last month, he was forced to issue multiple apologies for falsely stating that he was aboard a helicopter that was forced down by enemy fire in Iraq in 2003.

Williams said her family was encouraged by supporters who’d reached out saying they would like to see the NBC News anchor return to the air sooner rather than later.

“The outreach from people we love — family, friends — and then people we don’t even know, strangers, just reaching out and saying we want him back on TV,” she said. “It’s been tough, though. Obviously toughest on my dad, who’s been bearing the full responsibility for it.”

“My dad has always been there for us 100 percent of the time,” she added later. “One thing this experience has not done is shake my trust and belief in him as a man. He’s a really good man. He’s an honest man. He’s a truthful man. He has so much integrity. He cares so much about journalism.”

The ‘news’ here is another NBC ‘star’ jamming his no talent kid into a high-paid, glam media job…

I am highly insulted that TPM would waste space publishing a story which is such a non-story, She’s his daughter for kreist’s sake, why wouldn’t she be anxious for him to return. Pathetic

Yes, but I was surprised (a) he has a child this old and (b) his ‘child’ enjoys a ‘successful’ ‘acting’ ‘career’ like Tweety and Russert’s kids. Come on, Mrs. Greenspan, not too late to get an HBO actor or a Congressional correspondent bun in that old oven.
