What To Expect

  • Wallace said last week  that tonight's topics will include "The Trump and Biden Records, The Supreme Court, Covid-19, The Economy, Race and Violence in our Cities, The Integrity of the Election."
  • The New York Times' recent reporting on Trump's tax records will likely also come up.
  • Frank Fahrenkopf, co-chair of the Commission on Presidential Debates, said recently that debate moderators aren't expected to fact-check either candidate: "That's not the main role of our moderators," he told CNN's Brian Stelter.
  • Tens of millions of people are expected to watch: In 2016, the first debate between Trump and Hillary Clinton broke records, with 86 million people tuning in. Then, as now, three of every four voters told Monmouth they planned on watching the debate.
