The first presidential debate quickly approaching, both candidates have hunkered down in “debate camp” to prepare for the matchup.
“I remember going to debate camp,” Stewart said Monday. “Hot summer days, no sports. Our bitter rivals, Camp Normal-Fun.”
After months of campaigning, President Obama and Mitt Romney must be feeling pretty confident, right? Wrong. Aides and surrogates for both candidates have done nothing but lower expectations ahead of the first debate. One man, however, seemed to miss the memo.
“Wednesday night’s the restart of this campaign, and I think you’re going to see those numbers move right back in the other direction,” New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said Sunday on “Meet the Press.”
“What are you doing, Christie?” Stewart said. “For God’s sake, if Romney fails to meet those heavy expectations, he’s going to lose the general election, creating chaos in the Republican party, and that’s gonna leave open 2016 … oh. The Jersey is strong in this one.”
