Jon Stewart had a field day with a new Obama video conservative media outlets promised was a racially charged bombshell. The video turned out to be nothing more than a public speech Obama delivered in 2007 — a speech widely covered by the media.
The Daily Caller’s editor-in-chief Tucker Carlson co-bylined the site’s “exclusive” story on the video, The Drudge Report promoted it with teasers on Tuesday and Fox News’ Sean Hannity unveiled the video as part of the story’s rollout.
Stewart on Wednesday reminded viewers what Hannity thinks of the current president: He’s the “worst president on record.” So how did this “bombshell” live up to that charge?
“On the eve of the first presidential debate, the best, most explosive critique that you could deliver of the worst president we have ever had in this country, is treating us to some reanimated bullshit video already been seen, as though it were the Rodney King tape in reverse.”
