The media’s reaction to Mitt Romney’s choice of Paul Ryan as his running mate was “swift and universal,” Jon Stewart said on Monday. Pundits finally breathed a sigh of relief that the political conversation will now be one of substance.
“As the media, couldn’t you have made it a discussion about the real issues from the start?” Stewart said. “Or did a gypsy put a curse on you? ‘Hello, media, you will babel bullshit until a sad-eyed man from the north country is chosen by a Mormon. Good luck.'”
But alas, if this is what it takes, Stewart said. “To the substantive new discourse!” Or something like that.
