Shame on Fox News’ Bret Baier for making Mitt Romney uncomfortable this week! He’s a good friend of Stephen Colbert’s — heck, they wrestle on weekends — but Colbert can’t forgive him for that interview.

“The rule is, you stop grilling Romney after he gives you the laugh,” Colbert said. “That’s his safe word. He uses it all the time.” The cable networks were quick to call the interview “testy,” and Romney even complained to Baier about the tone of the interview.

“Yes, testy,” Colbert said. “As in, with those questions, Bret Baier, you kicked him in the teste.” Where’s the Bret Baier who interviewed President George W. Bush in 2008? Colbert asked. The Baier who rode in Bush’s pickup truck, kicked back in cowboy boots and took a stroll in the woods. Now, all of a sudden, Baier is “Adm. Tough Questions.”

“If anyone is a flip-flopper, it’s you, Bret Baier,” Colbert said. “So you cool it with the third degree, and you be nice to Mitt Romney. Remember, you work for Fox News, he is a Republican candidate. A year from now, he might be your co-worker.”
