Colbert: Romney, Obama Need Their Own Dedicated Cable Channels

There may be one downside to the unlimited corporate cash flooding the 2012 elections, Stephen Colbert said on Thursday: television networks could actually run out of airtime to sell more political ads.

“All that money’s backing up; we’re going to get blue-bills,” Colbert said.

One Republican candidate — Linda Lingle in Hawaii — has come up with a creative solution. She launched her own cable channel to provide around-the-clock coverage of her campaign. Colbert thinks the network will help her reach out to key demographics: insomniacs, people who can’t find the remote, empty Best Buy stores and cats left alone with the TV for comfort.

Now if only Mitt Romney and President Obama had their own cable channels dedicated solely to their own election…
