Stephen Colbert urged conservatives on Tuesday not to panic about Mitt Romney lag in the polls. “Fox News will panic for you,” he said.
Bill O’Reilly, Gretchen Carlson and other Fox hosts insist the polls don’t really matter until after the debates. “Give it time,” Colbert said. “The Romney campaign is only on their third reboot since the convention. We’ve had businessman Romney, foreign policy Romney, Latino Romney, but we still haven’t seen aqua Romney.”
Colbert insisted he wasn’t in denial over Romney’s dwindling election odds, but he quickly cycled through the five stages of grief.
