At a fundraiser this evening in Connecticut an emotional Ann Romney described her own struggles and recent criticism of her life choices which have made her a top draw among GOP audiences.
Romney spoke for about 17 minutes to the crowd, some of whom were forced to watch her speak on a closed-circuit television in a separate room.
“Some people think that I didn’t work,” Romney said. “I didn’t have help for many, many years.”
Romney said it was only after the birth of her youngest son, Craig, when she had to have emergency surgery, that she enlisted help with running the household.
“I love the fact that there are also women out there that don’t have a choice, that they must go to work and they still have to raise the kids,” Romney said. “Sometimes life isn’t easy for any of us.”
