With the election three days off, a growing chorus of Republican operatives and pundits are saying Sandy may be the game changer. Karl Rove says it’s turning out to be the “October surprise.”

“If you hadn’t had the storm, there would have been more of a chance for the [Mitt] Romney campaign to talk about the deficit, the debt, the economy. There was a stutter in the campaign. By way of example, one of the images, of Great Kills Harbor, on Staten Island, which shelters several marinas, shows docks and boats strewn everywhere. A Google Maps image shows the same area before Sandy.
