Wrong Place At Wrong Time

The death of U.S. District Judge John Roll in today’s Tucson shooting has been overshadowed by the wounding of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, in part because it appears that Roll was not the target of the shooter but was, in the words of the local sheriff, in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Nonetheless, the U.S. marshall’s service, which is in charge of security for federal judges, tells TPM that it is taking “appropriate actions to ensure the security of the federal judiciary.”

House Votes Suspended

Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-VA) has announced that in the wake of the shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) the House will delay all votes that had previously been scheduled for this coming week. That would include the vote expected Wednesday to repeal health care reform.
