Privatization By Any Other Name …

This Krugman post is worth a read for the stellar headline alone, but beyond that he does a good job reminding people that conservatives happily touted the “privatization” of Social Security until they realized that term polled poorly. So even though they still stand by the concept, see e.g., the House GOP budget plan put forth by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), they’ve been running from that term ever since.

Speaking to reporters this morning, Speaker Pelosi hits the key point about Washington and health care reform: “Time is important for us here, because this city is the city of the perishable and every special interest group out there who doesn’t want this to pass — including the entire Republican Party — benefits from any delay.”
