Sestak was ahead all evening in Pennsylvania. But Pat Toomey has now move into a very narrow lead, about 16,000 votes.
We’ll try to give you a read on where the remaining votes are.
Late Update: Starting to look tougher for Sestak. But still unclear.
Alexis Giannoulias has been ahead all night in Illinois. But Mark Kirk just slipped ahead. Only about 5,000 votes. This one’s going to come down to which areas of reported … Actually over the course of the time I’ve been writing this post his margin has moved to about 16,000.
The House is in GOP hands. It seems very unlikely at this point that the Republicans take the Senate. However, a couple of hours ago it looks like Dems were seriously contesting a good four seats that people had assumed were in GOP hands — Nevada, Colorado, Illinois and Pennsylvania. Both Illinois and Pennsylvania have moved ever so slightly into GOP hands. At this moment 25k votes for GOP in Illinois and the same for the GOP in PA. Still enough outstanding to make it too seem to call. But the odds of Dems seriously outperforming expectations on the Senate side have dimmed a bit.
Late Update: PA race still pretty tight. But Kirk is starting to open up a real lead in Illinois.
Sestak has made a helluva run for it. But Toomey’s now opened up a substantial lead. This one looks it’s in the GOP column. Not called. But all but.
Get the color from the GOP bashes and Dem … well, non-bashes in our TPM Midterms Wire.
Democrats are thinking they can pull it off in Nevada. If you look at the Nevada Senate results here, it says only a small number of precincts are in. But in this case, with all the early voting, that’s highly misleading. Probably upwards of half the vote is already in.
Boehner says that if Obama is willing to follow House GOP’s leads, everyone can get along.
Other networks are still holding back. But AP calling it for Toomey. Current margin about 60k votes.
MSNBC calls it for Kirk.
AP has called PA for Toomey.
No consensus of calls. But looks like both will go down as painful ‘almosts’ for the Dems.
