I must say, even for this crew, this is really epic. McCarthy has dropped out of the Speaker’s race. In favor of …? Well, no one. I’m now watching Rep. Issa (R-CA) explaining how McCarthy is awesome, will remain on as Majority Leader, will be the most important endorsement as they try to find someone who they can carry over the finish line. But good lord!

You can half imagine Boehner having imagined this all along – I will say I think that the chaos Boehner knew would come after him and how much that demonstrated how much they needed him was not the cause but definitely a fringe benefit of his departure. You can imagine him now saying: Here’s my price. These forty members resign, I get this power and that and I’ll come back.

What a friggin’ mess.

The White House needs to be re-soundproofed because that cackling and uncontrolled laughter can be heard all the way down at Capitol Hill.
