An Italian industrialist (an anachronistic term, perhaps) was shot in the knee outside his home Monday by two men on a black motocycle. In its particulars, the incident is reminiscent of attacks in the ’70s and ’80s by the militant, left-wing Red Brigades. It’s a comparison Italian authorities don’t seem to be dismissing out of hand. Italy’s economy is crippled by recession and austerity measures that have riven it politically.
