Pennsylvania Pollapalooza

Two new polls of the Democratic Senate race in Pennsylvania are out this morning. Unlike the Muhlenberg poll that Josh mentioned last night, the two new polls aren’t tracking polls. Here’s what they show:

Quinnipiac: Specter 44, Sestak 42 (Undecided 14).

Franklin and Marshall: Sestak 38, Specter 36 (Undecided 15).

For the polling aficionado trying to tease out any trends here, it’s worth noting that the Franklin and Marshall poll is the “oldest” of the three most recent polls. It concluded its surveying on Sunday night. Quinnipiac was in the field until Monday night. Muhlenberg, the tracking poll that shows the race a dead heat, is based on data collected Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday nights.

So it could be a sign that Specter has halted Sestak’s momentum, but it’s important not to read too much into these numbers. Each spread is within the margin of error, so this thing is just too close to call.
