No Levers To Pull

The ongoing crackdown in Syria under the hand of President Bashar al-Assad is as ferocious as it is relentless.

Reports suggest at least 9 more people were killed on Friday as a siege of the city of Hama entered its sixth day.

On Thursday Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton accused Assad’s regime of having murdered at least 2,000 of its own people since the uprising began in March.

But the fact is, beyond working to bring greater international pressure to bear, there is little the U.S. can do to affect the situation. We simply don’t have the levers to pull.
