Most of us have taken one prescription medication or another at some point in our lives. So you probably know that a prescription that’s very expensive when it’s still the name-brand only can suddenly get much much cheaper when it becomes available as a generic.

But did you know that the name brand company can go to the generic maker and essentially pay them not to make a generic so that they can keep charging the super-high price to consumers?

Turns out it’s totally legal.
