We’re getting a follow up read from our reporter up at the senate tonight. The gist of the AP report seems accurate. But the folks on the Hill, for whatever reasons, seem to be shying away from the word ‘deal’. It seems like they’ve tentatively agreed on a package that they’re now going to send to CBO for scoring. Late Update: We’ve now got a report from the press conference. The AP and NYT are both reporting that the Public Option is gone. And it may well be. But Sen. Reid just said unequivocally that that’s not true. Said Reid: “”All the things you’ve read in the newspapers…’the public option is gone,’–it’s not true.”
