For Shame

The father of the late Ambassador Chris Stevens pleads for his son’s death not to be exploited as part of the presidential campaign.

From Bloomberg …

The father of Christopher Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya who was killed in the attack in Benghazi last month, said his son’s death shouldn’t be politicized in the presidential campaign.

Rage

From TPM Reader CG …

I, too, have been agog at the number of folks on the left who are throwing up their hands and declaring Obama the second coming of Walter Mondale. Not just for policy reasons — though as someone who teaches courses on the presidency I think just about no one gives this president enough credit for what has been done on his watch — but because I wonder where they have been for the last four years.

Funny

From TPM Reader LW …

Wondering if you heard the quote from a pollster that EJ Dionne mentionned on (I think) the Rachel Maddow Show. Anyway, the pollster, according to Dionne, said, “Whwn I come out with a poll with bad news for Republicans, they want to kill me. When I come out with a poll that’s bad for Democrats, they want to kill themselves.” I think that comes really close to explaining the difference between the two parties and what has been happening since that first disastrous debate.

Buck Up, Wuss, Pt. #2

From TPM Reader JE …

Regarding the letter from MG – I would just like to rant for a minute or two about Obama’s 08 supporters who now don’t like him. Although I couldn’t tell from the tone of his letter if he necessarily was one of those – sounds like he might be a disgruntled Hillary supporter who will take any excuse to complain about Obama. My mom is one of those and I’ve been trying to turn her around.

Who You Callin’ Effeminate?

TPM Reader RD responds (her earlier email here, which has created a storm) …

Yes, I am a female and an Army Veteran. I never voted for a Democrat until 2008 when the Republicans lost their mind with the Sarah Palin pick.

And There’s More

Now from TPM Reader GW …

Concern Trolling. That was my read on the email about Obama living in an alternate reality.

What stuff. What a bunch of Malarkey. Obama was not prepared for what he got – not a debate but a slick, torrent of pure bullshit and new positions. He should have been, but that’s water under the bridge. He should have defended his position and that’s damn near inexcusable, but I suspect he was simply rocked back on his heels by the audacity of someone getting up on a national stage and flat out lying about his past and current positions. I’m also suere that conflicted with the advice he’d had not to appear the angry black man, leaving him effectively wedged. I don’t like that he COULD get wedged that way, but to jump from that to a “alternate reality”, seriously?

Bull****.

Buck Up, Wuss

TPM Reader RD (with a female first name) isn’t having any of it …

I think Dems deserve to lose if they feel like that person in the email. Dems are funny in a way Republicans are not; they are effeminate (for lack of a better word). They get their feelings hurt or perceive they are losing or they become disappointed in their candidate, they go around with the “Woe is me, I am so depressed but I’ll do what I have to do”.
