Filner to Rehab

So there you have it. Mayor Bob Filner will go for two weeks of intensive rehab. He won’t resign.

Speaking candidly, you can get counseling or ‘rehab’ for almost anything. And I don’t doubt counseling could help someone with this kind of history if they genuinely wanted to change their behavior. Look for their bylines soon and keep sending us (and soon them) those news tips to the tip email at the upper right.

NC Moves Ahead with Voting Crackdown

In order to limit the votes of their political opponents, North Carolina Republicans – freed up from the restrictions of the Voting Rights Act are pushing through a raft of new voting restrictions including Voter ID, dramatically curtailed early voting, an end to same day registration. A popular high school program designed to register high school students in time for their 18th birthdays is also getting the axe.
