A Lot Goin’ On Here

Not sure which is the hook to this story: that the guy accidentally shot himself in the penis while trying to holster his gun or that he only realized he’d shot his penis a while later when he got to his friend’s house.

BLM Secession

Fresh on the heels of the shooting of a BLM agent near the California/Nevada border by a “sovereign citizen” far right activist, Carbon County, Utah, has, I guess you’d call it, seceded from the BLM.

By a unanimous vote, the County no longer recognizes the BLM’s authority and any action within the county’s borders will be deemed an “AN IMMINENT THREAT” to its citizens. Of course, the BLM has been in the news of late because of the Bundy Ranch standoff, which the Carbon County resolution appears to be inspired by.

Interestingly, Carbon is known as a pretty Democratic county, as Utah goes. It voted for Bill Clinton twice and Barack Obama managed to get 45% of the vote in 2008.

“Khatallah”: I’m Just the Patsy

Just as Bowe Bergdahl went from patriot-victim of Obama’s negligence to traitor-jihadist rescued by Obama, I’m seeing the first murmurs and rumblings suggesting that arch-Benghazi bad guy Ahmed Abu Khatallah may simply be a patsy in Obama’s great game of deception. It’s definitely not mainstream yet. But please keep your eye out if you see examples. And if you do, please send them along.

Hillary Clinton’s Stumble Over Race

Yesterday CNN and Tumblr co-sponsored a much-touted town hall with Hillary Clinton. The official subject was her new book, but the actual subject was her future presidential run. Undoubtedly one of the more cringeworthy moments to watch was when CNN Chief international Correspondent Christiane Amanpour asked Clinton about race:

You Sure You Wanna Do That?

This emerging battle on the Hill over the new carbon emissions regs from the EPA really bears watching. You now have a group of Republican senators saying they’ll consider shutting down the federal government this fall to block the new regs. That’s on the usually more moderate Senate side.

It’s hard to figure the political upside for the GOP of a government shutdown right before the midterm elections. Could Democrats and the White House get so lucky?

“If Republicans want to repeat their government shutdown play to protect the profits of big polluters, they’re placing a pretty risky bet,” a White House official tells us.

Is This a Rerun or New Episode?

In case you hadn’t heard, Republicans want to shut down the government again.
