Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) avoided putting himself in the middle of the intra-GOP dispute over a Senate Intelligence Committee’s subpoena of Donald Trump Jr., in comments Tuesday that suggested the committee’s business was up to its chairman, Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC).
“None of us tell Chairman Burr how to run his committee,” McConnell said at a press conference in the Capitol, when asked by a reporter about some Republican senators’ criticism of Burr’s issuance of the subpoena.
McConnell repeatedly stressed that Burr has already said publicly that his committee’s investigation into Russian election meddling had found no collusion with the Trump campaign. He also dodged when asked about President Trump’s claim that the subpoena was very unfair.
“I gave the responsibility of this investigation to Chairman Burr two years ago,” McConnell said, repeating the “no collusion” refrain and adding that he anticipated the committee’s report “sometime soon.”

Burr can decide to have his committee vote out a contempt citation to the full Senate. Then McConnell can decide to not allow a vote by the full Senate on the contempt citation.
That’s how this works.
Turtle always “steers clear of internal GOP fight” in public unlike the histrionic Miss. Lindsey. Like a real turtle hiding in its shell, he prefers to manipulate behind closed doors.
What a sleaze.
McConnell set up the internal ruckus with his dramatic case-closed performance for the dread Audience Of One when he had to have known that DJT Jr was jacking with Burr’s Intel committee.
Yertle knows he doesn’t have skin in game of protecting Junior.
