Stephen Colbert on Wednesday celebrated that public sector unions have been taking a “beating,” especially in the wake of Wisconsin’s recall election.
And on The Colbert Report’s “Word” segment, Colbert railed against the “unionized lunch lady thugs” in the Sharpsville Area School District, who this week won the “right” to eat expired lunches.
“Given the quality of cafeteria food, expired is an improvement,” he said.
What’s next? Colbert wondered. Firefighters demanding to pick through the charred remains of the house they just put out? One-hundred years after winning workers’ rights, the unions are at it again, Colbert said, “demanding benefits none of us could ever have imagined wanting in our wildest dreams.”
