Cantor Passes Up Obama Presser For Britney Spears Concert

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) was asked by NBC this morning if President Obama “said anything last night that you and your colleagues will support.”

And Cantor answered in great detail … which must mean he caught Obama’s press conference on TiVo during breakfast. Because the rising GOP star went straight from a campaign fundraiser to Britney Spears’ sold-out D.C. concert last night.

Here’s how Cantor’s office explained it to Wonkette, which first reported this fact today:

After attending the NRCC dinner, Eric, like President Obama has been known to do, enjoyed a night at the Verizon center. It was a bipartisan night, as Eric was joined by Senator Landrieu and other Democrats.

Wonkette later reported that Cantor’s office was unable to confirm that Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) was also in attendance at the Spears show.

Late Update: HuffPo quotes an anonymous GOP staffer stating that Cantor attended the show “at the request of a fundraiser.” Either way, we hope he didn’t have to stay up too late getting up to speed on the White House presser.
