David Keene, the former president of the National Rifle Association, talked with TPM’s Lauren Fox about the 2016 candidates’ Second Amendment records. Keene told her that the NRA tries to help candidates understand nuances and “provides all campaigns with briefing sheets and backgrounders and the like with all Second Amendment issues.”

Josh Marshall: “If Trump and/or Cruz dominate the first handful of contests, one of them will be the nominee.” Marshall says that the important thing to watch out for now “isn’t so much Trump and Cruz’s poll numbers and whether they’ll hold up as the increasing signs that the Republican party is beginning the process of embracing that outcome.”

From a TPM Prime member: “Is it an irony or evidence of too much ignorance that so many Americans seem to think a billionaire (Trump) or the Political party of Billionaires (Republicans and Democract corporatists like Hillary) will come to rescue the middle class by reversing wealth concentration? We need more and more Economists like Piketty and Krugman to keep pounding away on educating the middle class in the US and hopefully one day they will stop voting against their own best interests thanks to the propaganda of emotion based issues of guns and white supremacy. When the white middle class wakes up and joins their minority bothers, then maybe change will be possible.”
