SCOTUS Bros Clearly Don’t Understand How Women Get Contraceptives

The Gist: Judging by the questions from conservatives on SCOTUS — all men — they’re still not fully aware of how every day people — particularly women — receive health care in the United States, or how health insurance actually works. .

Trump Retweets Meme Mocking Heidi Cruz’s Appearance

Biden To Use His Own Record To Bash GOP Senate On SCOTUS Blockade

The Gist: The latest play by President Obama’s administration to pressure Republicans to consider Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland is a speech Vice President Joe Biden will give at Georgetown University Law School Thursday afternoon. Biden will use his own record as a member of Senate Judiciary Committee — which typically leads the Senate’s confirmation process — to argue the Senate should hold hearings and a vote for Garland.

A spokesman for the New York Police Department called presidential candidate Ted Cruz’s comments about patrolling Muslim neighborhoods “foolish,” TPM’s Kristin Salaky reported. “Hey, @tedcruz are our nearly 1k Muslim officers a “threat” too?” J. Peter Donald tweeted. “It’s hard to imagine a more incendiary, foolish statement”

Agree or Disagree?

TPM Reader BL: “Just like targeting whole Muslim communities would ultimately empower radical Islamic leaders, targeting “anyone who looks like a gang member” ultimately empowers gang leaders — who often rely on such targeting to operate extensive criminal networks from behind bars. We’re finally beginning to acknowledge the counterproductive nature of mass incarceration policies. But walking back over-zealous targeting laws is still a hard sell, especially among law-and-order, conservative types. Yet it is obvious to them that the same policy applied to Muslims is idiocy.”

Say What?!

BUZZING: Today in the Hive

From a TPM Prime member: “The important thing is that there is a President who understands the executive branch and will quietly use that knowledge to hold firm against insurgencies. There was no question in my mind after watching the Benghazi hearings that HRC was eminently qualified to handle this job. She will do many things that are anathematic to you, me, and most everyone we know. She will also prevent many disasters from unfolding. My guess is it would take Bernie two years to master the Executive Branch. He would spend lots of time in the bully pulpit and not enough time doing the heavy lifting. We would get a few great executive orders, very few, if any, military actions, good SCOTUS & judicial nominees across the board, and a Wall Street looking over its shoulder day & night. On balance, I prefer HRC, but either is preferable to the other options currently available.”
