Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) claimed on Tuesday that attendees at a town hall he held earlier in February wanted to “bully and intimidate” him with “continuous yelling and screaming,” TPM’s Esme Cribb reported. “I thought it was a bit over the top. I thought it was intended to bully and intimidate,” Chaffetz said in an interview with “Kilmeade and Friends” surfaced by CNN’s KFILE.
Say What?!
“I also, for me, it’s difficult for me to call myself a feminist in the classic sense because it seems to be very anti-male, and it certainly is very pro-abortion in this context. And I’m neither anti-male and pro-abortion. There’s an individual feminism, if you will, that you make your own choices.”
– White House senior counselor Kellyanne Conway said Thursday that she wouldn’t define herself as a “classic” feminist, “because it seems to be very anti-male, and it certainly is very pro-abortion.”
BUZZING: Today in the Hive
From a TPM Prime member: “There used to be a cohort of committed, good-government Republicans, who, along with Democrats, performed pubic services like manning the State Dept and its Foreign Service, the Pentagon, the various offices in the Justice Dept, not to mention all the willing folks in the National Park Service, at Social Security, and so on. The experienced Washington hands who move in and out of government via law offices are a resource, not a liability, and they represent the political spectrum. The fact of Trump’s outside political status is a handicap, as he has no cadre of advisers with any connections to professional and experienced staff. And it doesn’t help that sensible people are afraid of his erratic and weirdly narcissistic behavior. Our Deep State is The People, actually, who occupy staff positions with expertise and experience. These worthies are letting it be known they are very concerned about the colorful but defective character in charge now.”
