Some GOPers requested equal air-time after Donald Trump hosted “Saturday Night Live” earlier this month. TPM’s Sara Jerde read a history of the FCC regulation in The Wall Street Journal, which explained that the equal time rule was created as part of The Radio Act of 1927. WSJ wrote that it was a time when radio was such a “scarce commodity, so important for electoral success that federal regulation was deemed the only way to protect the public interest.”

From a TPM Prime member:“Hillary has consistently had a backing of a majority of SEIU members. Over 72% according to sources, which makes sense when you think about how so many of their members are people of color, and how much better Clinton does with non-Whites compared to Bernie. I don’t think Hillary is taking anything for granted this time around, but some insurgent move by Unions for Bernie seems unlikely at this time.”
